Good morning Divers!!!|
Welcome those new to our list of local OC divers. All you need to do is to show up for a scheduled dive and you'll be on your way to gaining experience in our local waters. Welcome aboard.
Current diving conditions in Laguna Beach. I was a bit "bummed" that the viz wasn't better for our SCD dive on Saturday. Special thanks to Louis for leading the group while I was away. Turns out that S Laguna had better viz than N Laguna, which is unusual. I read a few dive reports that showed S Laguna getting 20+ feet of viz, even with the low tide. See how picking your dive site can make such a difference?? But today, it looks much like it did on Saturday. So with that in mind, viz is running 10-20 feet depending on where you hit the water at. If you head out, drop me a dive report. Seems to me like we have "Settled in" for our normal Spring/Summer viz where the average viz is about 15 feet.
For those who have not read it yet, here is the link to the Reef Seekers April newsletter. Ken Kurtis runs the annual Chamber Day/Eve to raise money for the Catalina hyperbaric chamber. This year Chamber Day is May 1st. Here is the newsletter link http://www.reefseekers.com/NL-PDF/0413NL.pdf and here is the Chamber Day link http://chamberday.org Both of these have plenty of info for you. I highly recommend that you attend Chamber Day or Eve.
Our plans. Looks like we avoided the rain for the most part. The forecast looks good too. So we should be in business for our normal Saturday plans. It is early in the week and I want to stay optimistic. Stay tuned and I'll keep an eye on the conditions throughout the week.
Diving!! DO IT!! Safely...
