Rich wasn't feeling well so he stayed home and sent the text message around 8am. There weren't any new peoplet this time, but a few of the new people from
before came back again. The conditions have been normal for this time of year and I decided for Crescent Bay and dive at Deadman's Reef.
We arrived and the conditions look good but the fog was heavy. We suited up and headed out. Finding the drop down point was difficult. We couldn't see the
next cove and barely saw the shore. We had to estimate and we dropped down.
We headed on a course of 240 and sure enough the reef came into view. The visibility was on average 15 feet and the water was green. We went up and over
and into the canyons and the group split up. I turned on the video camera and shot some video. This time without the filter which has been adding halos. So
I'm thinking the filter has some imperfections and that causes the halo.
We swam around the reef a few times and after 30 minutes we headed on back to shore at a leisurely rate. We didn't see anything unusual, just the normal fish.
Some of the sheephead fish were pretty good sized.
We reached the inner reef and swam along the edge. Towards the end we got a little too close and were inside the inner reef. I headed east and then proceeded
to shore. We surfaced at 6 feet of water and got out without any problems.
After packing our gear we headed to Husky Boy for food and conversation. It was a good dive and the conditions were normal for this time of the year.
Diving!! DO IT!! Safely...
