Good morning Divers!!!|
Visibility: 10-12 feet
Conditions: Salt water, shore dive, moving to low tide, large waves, surge.
Dive Buddies: Chance. Total of 17.
There were a few new people that showed up at the mall. We had about 3 or 4 new people joining us for the first time. Surf was up and it was questionable to
hit the water. We decided to go to Crescent Bay and dive Deadman's Reef.
We got to the beach and indeed, the surf was up. It was very foggy and it was hard to see the water. Rich was still not feeling good so he skipped the dive. A
few other divers bowed out because the surf was large at times. Its good to realize your limitations and skipping a dive is not bad.
We suited up and hit the water. We split the group into sections with each group hitting the water when the surf was minimal. We swam out to the drop down
point and we all descended within our own groups.
One of my divers had ear problems and we tried twice getting down. He gave up and he swam back and I dove with his buddy. We were far off from the drop
down point. We were in deep water and that means we were on the other side of the reef. I swam west and then north hoping that I would bump into the reef
on the way back in. We didn't and instead we bumped into the inner reef.
We swam along the inner reef going along the edge and swimming in and out of the kelp. We joined Dale and his group and followed him back to the shore. We
got close to shore and ascended. The surf was large at points and we got out without any problems. The rest of the group started arriving and we all left the
We packed up our gear and headed to Husky Boy's for food and conversation.
