Another day of questionable diving conditions. There was some rain but not enough for the county to issue an advisory. There was heavy surf in the
beginning of the week and more due. Conditions were Laguna normal with 12 feet of visibility and the surf wasn't that bad.
A small turn out was at the mall. Only about 7 of us. Rich wasn't diving and I decided on Deadman's because the tide was low and there might be high
surf. We got in our cars and drove down to the beach and checked out the site. It was average with a few large waves. We suited up and swam out to
the drop down point.
When we dropped down the visibility didn't open up or get better. It stayed the same. I made the heading for Deadman's Reef and came across
Deadhenge and we followed it to the reef. We swam up and around the reef and at the eastern end we swam into the canyons. I took some video and
then we swam over the "sheep head" city and took a lot of videos of the sheep head fish swimming around. The current was so strong that it knocked
me on my back while I was filming. I had to use my BCD to get me up because I had to be careful with my new selfie stick.
We swam around a little more and it was time to head back. We swam towards the inner reef and had difficulties getting there because the current was
so strong. I made my way around the inner reef and continued all the way to shore ascending in 8 feet of water. Exiting the water was easy because all
the waves calmed down when we got out. After the dive we headed over to Husky Boy's for food and conversation.
Diving!! DO IT!! Safely...
