Good morning Divers!!!
Welcome those new to out list of local OC divers. Just show up for a scheduled dive and you'll have plenty of others to dive with and gain some experience in our local waters, which helps to find the various neat spots at each dive site. Welcome aboard.

My recap from Saturday. Yep, Louis had it correct, we dove both Fri & Sat. Fri at Mountain was a bit rough, the surge was much more than I anticipated. But I did see a small Diamond Stingray, which are nearly black and not the usual shape of what we usually see in Laguna with our little round Stingrays. Plus we got a trip in the "Pin ball machine" or as we call it, the large swim through. But Sat at Deadman's was much better, viz a bit better, from 10-15 feet at Mountain to closer to 20 feet in places at Deadman's, especially the top of it. But the thermoclines were rough there, each dropping the water temps about 4-5 degrees on each one and I felt 2 or 3 of them. But all in all a good w/e of diving here locally. You just had to pick your dive spots carefully.

Current diving conditions in Laguna Beach. The S swell is still here and it looks like we will have to deal with it if we want to dive. Which means less than perfect diving conditions. The surf this AM is running 1-3 feet and I would expect to see some waves higher than that at some spots. So viz will be typical at 10-15 feet. Choose your dive site carefully today, surf, viz & weather all have to be taken into consideration. Make good choices.

Our plans are for Saturday. But I see there is a big increase in the swell between now & then. So we will keep an eye on it and you be ready to dive.

Diving!! DO IT!! Safely...
