Good morning Divers!!!
Welcome those new to our list of local OC divers. Join us for a dive soon. Welcome aboard.

Saturday recap:
Begin Time: 9:02 am
Time: 41 min
Max Dept: 49ft
Temp: 62 F
Visibility: 15-20 feet
Conditions: Salt water, shore dive, low tide moving to high tide, south swell waves, surge.
Dive Buddies: Chuck and the new people. Total 12.

We had a few new people join us and the conditions were good. The south swell is still with us, but not that large. You did have to watch out for some large waves. The visibility was good, a little better than normal.

At the mall we had between 10 and 15 people join us. A few new people were there. Rich was not diving and with the south swell still around, we decided to go to Crescent Bay and dive Deadman's Reef. We left the mall at 7:45 and made our way to the beach. There we examined the surf and conditions and decided to dive.

We swam out to the drop down point and descended to the bottom. The water wasn't that cold and visibility was pretty good. We swam south and hit the reef. I went up to the top part and swam around the eastern end. We went up and over the reef and then headed to the back side of the reef. We found a nice area to sit and watch the fish swim by. This is the area where a lot of California Sheephead fish hang out. I checked the new diver's air supply and decided to head back. I noticed the fish were upset and fighting each other. The Garibaldi were fighting when we passed the Garibaldi area. Close to shore I saw a sand bass and kelp bass fighting.

When we reached 15 feet, we ascended and swam the rest of the way to shore. Some large waves came by and we waited them out. When it was clear, we got out without any problems.

We headed to Husky Boy for food and conversation. We discussed the encounters we saw and headed home afterwards. It was a pretty good day of diving.
