Good morning Divers!!!
Welcome those new to our list of local OC divers. Show up for a dive soon and you will have plenty of others to dive with. Welcome aboard.

Recap from our dive at Montage. Well, first we attempted to go to Mountain Ave. But guess what? It is closed, I took a picture and you can see what we saw.

But I was able to redirect everyone showing up to go to the Montage. We had very good viz for this dive spot, 20-30 and in places closer to 40 feet. Plus the usual critters along with some good sized Green Abs. I did notice that someone is harvesting the scallops there, it was very obvious, if you hear of anyone doing that call the DFW and turn them in for poaching. Water temps were running 72 at depth, kelp did not look good here, nearly all dead due to the water temps. I remember when this happened back in the late 80's & 90's when all the kelp was gone in Laguna. I hope enough survives to repopulate the area. We then went to the Husky Boy for lunch. So all and all, a very good day for diving, although it was easy to overheat in your wet suit, so be careful with that. At the Montage, with 2 showers, it is easier to stay somewhat cool.

Current diving conditions in Laguna Beach. Looks pretty good right now, surf is running 1-3+ feet and viz should be pretty good at 15-30 feet.

Our plans are for Saturday, get your gear ready. I also found out recently that if you rent gear, one person told me, that the Sport Chalet will allow you to use 2 rentals towards your gear purchase, so that will be worth looking into. There are a few dive shops that do that, but you must inquire about it.

Diving!! DO IT!! Safely...
