Rich got an unfavorable dive report on Thursday and so I was thinking maybe the good conditions were gone. Earlier in the week, the visibility was excellent. I was
pleasantly surprised by the good visibility. Surf was high at times so timing was very important.
Chuck and I got to the mall where Rich was waiting for us. A few new people showed up for the first time. We left a minute early and rushed down to Crescent Bay
to dive Deadman's Reef.
At the site, it looked calm and so we suited up. When we were ready to enter the water, a few big waves hit the beach. We just waited and once cleared, in we went.
While swimming out, I rolled over and checked the visibility. It was very good.
At the drop down point, the current would move us closer to Seal Rock. We had to adjust and then drop down. We landed at the edge of the inner reef. We headed
to Deadman's and went up and over the peak and then into the canyons. We saw lots of fish. Big kelp bass and big CA sheep heads were everywhere. We swam
along the backside and then back into the canyons. I saw three large lobsters sitting under a rock saying hello.
We had to come back a little early and only made it to the inner reef where we surfaced. A beautiful dive today and if you missed out, you really missed it. We
packed up our gear and headed to Husky Boy's for food and conversation.
Diving!! DO IT!! Safely...
