Good morning Divers!!!
Current diving conditions in Laguna Beach. I really thought we messed up on Saturday, the surf didn't materialize and I just knew we were going to be getting some rants about our choice. That was until I got this email:
Good call. I went to Crescent Bay this morning - mainly to try out some fins that I borrowed. The tide was really low. Surf was 1-2 footers and the surface was calm. The swim out wasn't too bad - the sun was beginning to shine, so there was some hope. That changed as soon as we dropped down. Visibility was 2-3 feet. All kinds of particulates floating around. It felt like swimming in slime! Its been a while since visibility was that bad. The surges were fierce and the current was really strong in the SW direction. We quickly decided to head back to shore and fought currents the entire way. I got in a really good workout and an opportunity to test the Hollis fins. The fins did fine; my legs - not as well! In my beginner days, I considered every dive a good dive. I'm starting to change my philosophy! Well, maybe next week.....
Thanks Micheal, great dive report. That is what I like about Laguna. If the conditions suck, it's not like you paid good money for a dive trip only to be disappointed. Plus you can try out new gear too.

But today, the surf is running 1-3+ feet and I think the viz is still a bit low at around 10 feet.

Keep in mind that Chamber Day is May 2nd. Get involved in raising money for the Catalina Chamber. Also, some of you have sent me email about the SCD email ending up in Spam folders or not getting it at all. Well, I spent last in a long email with my ISP and they handled it by upgrading some of the software on their server, so you should now be getting the SCD email properly. Let me know if you don't.

Our plans are for Saturday. Stay tuned here for more.

Diving!! DO IT!! Safely...
