Max Temp: 69 F
Visibility: 10-15 feet
Conditions: Salt water, shore dive, high tide, large waves, surge, current.

A good dive at Mountain Ave, but high south swells were breaking on the beach. Visibility was ok but better viz is coming soon.

Rich and I met up at the mall and a few people showed up. No new people. Rich and I were talking about where to go. It was high tide and we were still getting
south swells. We decided to take a risk and go to Mountain Ave.

When we arrived, the surf was small and manageable. So we suited up. When we arrived some large waves were hitting the beach, but on the beach. No surf zone
to get past. I quickly entered the water and swam out to the drop down point. When all 7 of us arrived, we descended.

The visibility was pretty good out there. 15 feet max. We swam around the reefs trying to find something exciting, but it was just normal. The surge was really
strong and the fish were being bounced around. I broke off from Mike and his followers and swam around the reefs in a different order.

I did find the swim through, but I was on the "exit" side and went in through there. Inside, I tried to stay in and get some video. The surge was really strong so I
couldn't stay inside too long. A surge pushed me out, but my tank bounced me down and I went back into the swim through. I positioned myself closer to the
bottom and the next surge pushed me out. I swam around a little bit more and then decided to head back in.

I didn't find any bat rays on the way back. The closer I got to shore, the worse the visibility got. When it was snow globe conditions, I had enough and surfaced. I
was in front of the hotel about 3 hotels south of the stairs so I was in the area to exit the water. About 6 large waves came and I waited it out for it to calm down
and then ran out of the water.

We packed our gear and headed to Husky Boys for food and conversation. It was a pretty good day and we took the risk to try a site that we haven't dove in a year.
It was good to dive that site. In a few months, all the sand will disappear and getting to the beach will be too hard.
