An excellent dive. Better than last week. The good conditions have arrived and it is time to get in the water! Visibility was 40 feet. The temperature is still good.
The South Swells were not to be seen. So low surf.
Rich and I were a bit late to the mall and there were quite a few new people waiting for us. We introduced ourselves and got a chance to know them. The regulars
came and we decided with the amount of people that we had, we would go to Heisler Park.
When we got to Heisler Park, we checked out the surf and it was very small. This is good news because the surf report was saying south swells would be here, but
the map of the water showed nothing. Well the map was more accurate. We suited up and entered the water.
Half of the group decided to go all the way out and the rest of us dropped down closer to shore. When we dropped down the visibility was incredible. The water
was blue and we could see far so we didn't have to bunch up together when we descended.
I headed east to the reef and then we swam south. The fish were out and lots of them. Nothing too unusual, but the California Sheep Heads were big and
numerous. The Garibaldi were aggressive with protecting their nests. Lots of baby Senioritas were schooling around.
We continued along and after awhile Martha and Brian were ready to head to back. We swam north and I tried to go west a bit too so we wouldn't miss the beach.
When their air supply was low, I had them surface together. I stayed below and hooked up with another diver and we continued to shore.
I was getting a bit low of air too and surfaced. I was a bit east of the beach and had to swim west. The visibility was so good, that I swam along the surface, with
face down and reg in my mouth. I passed over Robin and Mike along the way in. When I got close to shore, a lot of people were popping up. Getting out of the
water was easy.
After packing our gear we headed to Husky Boy's for food and conversation. It was an excellent dive today. The best we had all year. This is the time to get in the
Diving!! DO IT!! Safely...
