Good morning Divers!!!
Welcome those new to our list of local OC divers. Show up for one of our dives and you will have plenty of others to dive with and gain some experience in our local waters too. Welcome aboard.

Current diving conditions in Laguna Beach. Well, today is not the day to be out there. Unlike Saturday when the surf was mild, today it's more on the wild side, running 3-6 feet right now. But today is supposed to be the highest surf day for the week. Viz will be low today at 5-10 feet, if that. My best guess is that diving will be closed within the city limits, you can hear the LBLG's recording at 949.494.6573 and it is updated around 9 AM. I do not recommend diving today, simple choice, it's just not worth it and can be dangerous too.

I noticed on this last Saturday that as our divers were exiting the water a whale watching boat came around the corner from Emerald Bay, I thought that was a bit strange since the Gray Whales aren't supposed to be here yet. But surprise, just out at around Deadman's Reef, I saw a whale spout. Following behind that boat appeared to be a DFW boat too, keeping an eye on the tour boat. I saw the boat stop at the Shaw's end of Crescent Bay. Whale spouted again right next to the tour boat, within feet of it. Shortly after that it spouted behind the DFW boat, I actually saw it come up and dive down too. I don't know if it was an early Gray or a Humpback, but if you were out there, you might have seen it u/w. Neat sight to see.

Our plans are for Saturday. I'm watching the swell and if it drops down and we get a couple of days of it being low, viz should improve too. So stay tuned here for more.

Diving!! DO IT!! Safely...
