Woods Cove

Woods Cove is an "Old Favorite" amongst the diving community. With the nice quiet neighborhood where you park and the nice sandy beach, Woods is an excellent spot to spend your day diving.

Parking is fairly good at Woods, there aren't any parking meters, but you may have to park a bit farther away from the Cove during the summer, so plan to get there early.

There's also a small "Park" at the top of Woods, real small. In fact, quite a few of the Coves around South Laguna have these little parks with usually at least one bench seat to "Kick back" on after a dive.

This shot shows the Stairway down to the beach, it's fairly steep. Also notice the little park at the top. Parking is along the street at the top of the stairs.

I've done more than a few night dives here and about the same number of day dives here. Entry & exit at Woods Cove usually means "Rock entry". I find it is best to go when the tide is NOT low, at low tide crossing the rocks is more difficult than at a mid to high tide, you'll also have better VIZ.

Try to get "Outside" the Cove and the reef structures kind of run parallel to the shore line. Always look into the "Holes" like at Cress Street, there are all kinds of "Critters" hidding in these places. During Lobster season, this is also a decent place to get a "Bug" or two.
