Shaw's Cove

All of Laguna is an MLPA area and everything has been protected since 2012.
So all of Laguna is a 'Not take' area.

Shaw's Cove is known for having more diver training than anywhere else in Laguna. This doesn't "Take away" anything from this area, there is a lot to see here. When you decide to dive here, make sure the surf is down, diving here with surf means 2 bad things, TOUGH entry/exit and BAD VIZ. In the El Nino year, 1997, there were a few divers killed here because they did not understand the conditions.

Parking here is similar to Crescent Bay, since the 2 coves are "Side by side" the access is similar.

Here is a picture of Shaw's, the stairway in on the lower right of the picture and the Diving area is on the left side near the rock structures.

Diving here usually means an easy entry & exit, but don't be fooled when the surf is up, save diving for "Another day" under these conditions. The lifeguards will help you with these decisions, take them for what they say, they have your own "Well being" in mind.

The best places are the "Outer edges" of the rock structure and there's a reef in deeper water out beyond the end of the point. Look for lots of "Critters" in the Reef structures as you make your way to deeper water, I've seen a "Family" of Moray Eels protecting their young near the end of the point. There is also a "Passage" from Shaw's to Crescent Bay a bit closer to the beach, but use this on days when surf is low, it gets real surgy in here and can go from good VIZ to "White out" very quickly. If you are "Over sand", take the time to look for "Living sand dollars" which are abundant around Shaw's & Crescent Bay.

So if you are looking for an "Easy IN & OUT" dive, Shaw's has what you are looking for. Also if you haven't been diving for awhile, this is a good place to get back into the "Feel" of it again.
